Such nasty words from someone who doesn't even know me. I'm thrilled! Just a few tit for tats I'd like to make....

Ummm the terrorists of 9/11 including Osama Bin Laden were from Saudi Arabia. I'd love to know why you think we haven't attacked the very country that harbored these terrorists that attacked Americans on American soil as you put it. As for the classic "If you hate this country so much why don't you leave"...I guess you didn't read my Blog in it's entirety. I stated that America is a great country however it is a young country. As the most powerful and wealthy country on the planet I feel that we have a responsibility to evovle above war. We should be looking at the larger picture, the roots of the problem that cause such attacks as 9/11. My "Pull the Plug" blog was to point out the fact that most Americans are more concerned with trivial, insubstantial things rather than the fact that we are at war. Whether you are for war or not it is an issue that should be thoroughly and honestly discussed in our media. Now in response to the act of removing Saddam because of his genocide against the Kurds....

Once again I suppose you looked away and did not see my point at the end of the Blog in which I noted that many horrible crimes against humanity have been and are being committed and we often turn a blind eye. Infact I think I will do a blog in the future on genocide.

Let's see...theres the on going genocide against the indigenous people of this land. That is unless I'm mistaken and you have Native American neighbors, or Native American students at your kids school, or maybe there's a Native American that works at your favorite grocery store. I mean after all this entire country from coast to coast was peopled with tribes who had their own rich culture. I guess we don't want to recongize their genocide. Who wants to believe it's still happening today when it started such a long time ago, with the European settlers who began to wipe them out with biological war fare in the form of blankets infested with Small Pox. Oh but hey there was genocide in South Africa and that wasn't to long ago at all. Heck I remember when all the cool 80's rock stars were protesting apartheid by refusing to perform in South Africa. But I don't recall the US government getting involved at all. Yeah I'm pretty sure there was no America vs South Africa. Let's see, I already mentioned Rwanda on my last blog so that would be a little redundant, and then of course there's the monks in Tibet who have been slaughtered for years, I don't know I guess it's to cold to send troops up there. Now Sudan's climate is more agreeable, and the women are beautiful but as far as I know our President hasn't said "stop!" to the men who are killing thousands by the day. So you see "Anonymous" I just can't jump on the wagon and say hurrah for war, when there are and have always been evil men doing evil things in the world. As a woman I understand that in order to solve such things we must first look to the problem of poverty, poor health care and lack of education that plagues so many countries. Any mother will tell you their children come first. They must be fed, have water to drink, clean clothes to wear and a good education. If we used the awesome power and wealth that we have in this country to see to these things, you would not find so many angry men willing to kill themselves and others.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, you've made this stay at home mom feel very important.

Anonymous said...
Get off your soapbox and get some facts. This is the kind of snivelling crap I hear from whiny babies all the time, and I think you all need to grow up and live in the real world. Here's a few facts:The 9/11 tragedy was caused by Al Qaeda. They are a terrorist organization consisting of almost all middle eastern males. Men hailing from countries such as Iraq, Pakistan, and yes, Iraq just to name a few.Another fact: The war on Iraq is not in retaliation for 9/11. It is to show the world that harboring terrorists that attack Americans on American soil will not be tolerated. If you think the targets of the war are innocent, then you ma'am are ignorant. Look up the word, I think you may be surprised at what it actually means. If you actually think that American soldiers routinely run over 2 year old children so often that they coined a term for it, you are as much a victim of idiotic media than the people you are critisizing. As a member of the military, I can tell you that this is a job. We don't do this to go out and kill people and get our jollies off on running over anyone, children or adults. We do this because it pays the checks, and yes, because of a national pride. We do this so people like you HAVE the freedom to bitch and moan about the social inequities you falsly perceive this nation to have.Honestly, I don't give two shits if you think this or not. The only reason why I came here is because a relative pointed me to this blog. But I pose a question, and this is assuming you are a self-sustaining adult: If this country is so bad, with it's devil media and it's oh-so-evil president, why continue living here? There are hundreds of other countries in this world. Why not live in Iraq, and help defend the "innocent" people shooting American troops in the middle of the night? Hell, why not take the next big step and really do what you say you believe in? If the Americans are so evil that they're running over little children in tanks, why aren't you over there killing the infidel capitalist pigs that probably don't even want to be there in the first place? Oh, make sure you tell all the civilians that we are helping there that the Americans are all evil and we should have left them alone! We should have let Saddam keep committing genocide by massacring all of the Kurds. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Pull the Plug

Will Jen and Brad get a divorce already so I can stop seeing their pictures plastered all over the place. Must I wonder if Michael really put wine into soda cans in attempts to lure young boys to bed? Why did the Academy insist that Antonio Bandera's sing the Oscar winning song for Motorcycle Diaries while the real singer/songwriter sat in the audience? I wish the answer to these questions gave some profound insight into the human mind, but I refuse to give it such weight. The truth is we are a society that would rather be plugged into the fantasy lives of celebrities, rather than our own. We care more for the one dimensional images on our TV screen than the flesh and blood that surrounds us. Is it no wonder so many American's were shocked by the events on September 11.

I no longer trust NBC, ABC, CBS. Those letters have words behind them, who have companies behind them, who have men behind them, rubbing their hands together in greed. This device, this artificial intelligence, has weaved it's way into our lives, dictating the way we live. While millions were watching Friends and keeping their fingers crossed for Rachel and Ross; men, women and children around the world were suffering horrific tragedies. A glimpse of Janet Jackson's breast damn near brought down the establishment, yet no one rants and raves about the millions that the Superbowl pulls in all for the simple act of making rich men richer.

American's as a rule are ignorant to the rest of the world. The devastation of 9/11 should have been a wake up call for us to disconnect from the Matrix and pay closer attention to our brothers and sisters that inhabit the rest of this planet. It is the same arrogance that once prompted people to believe that the sun revolved around the earth. We are not the end all be all; and arrogance is just a few letters shy of ignorance. Have we forgotten that through out history all great empires end with disaster? Would someone please tell King George to step down from the thrown!

America is indeed a great country in that we have an opportunity to become a culture of cultures. The idea of a multi-cultural, multi-religious, multi-whatever is a utopia that my heart wants to believe is possible. However I see too many doubba-yah stickers on the back of tank size SUV's with security moms in the pilot seat and wonder just how far we have to go. I fear that we have much to learn, and that we are a young country making some disastrous mistakes. How do you justify 57 million American's supporting a man who supports the death and destruction of innocent people? Has television conditioned us to nod our head and say yes to everything we are fed? Did everyone take the blue pill and forget that not a single person involved with the terrorist attack on Sept. 11 came from Iraq?

I am angered everytime I hear someone justify the Iraq war as a means of retaliation for Sept 11. It speaks volumes of the racism and ignorance that still plagues our country. People of Middle Eastern decent have been tossed together into the same box with the label "terrorist" slapped on top.

I want desperately to blame The Machine that is our media and it's control it has over us. However blame must begin within. We have allowed ourselves to be plugged in and programmed. Our drug of choice is voyerism. Less than 20% of Americans read books. How could we possibly be aware of the the lives of fellow human beings thousands of miles away, when all we really want to do is stare at the screen and forget about our own human experience. Is this why so many American's support this war? As long as they can turn the channel and not actually see a 2 year old child getting run over by an American tank (a practice known in Iraq as A Speed Bump).

I enjoy watching a good television show or movie as much as anyone else. Yet I am finding it harder and harder to give a crap about who got voted off American Idol and what a desperate housewife does when her husband goes to work. We all need a fantasy to escape to once in a while but at what point do we say enough is enough? We are at WAR. Over 1500 American soldiers have died (this number does not include the epidemic of soldiers committing suicide) , 10,000 more have injuries that will change their lives forever (amputies, brain damage, mental illness, cancer), and more than 100,000 Iraq's have died (mostly children and women). Is that not enough to get us to put the remote down from time to time?

I've often wondered how the world turned it's back as so many Jews were killed in Germany, and Africans in Rwanda, and now the people of Sudan and Iraq. Unfortunately along with apple pie, and Coca Cola, mind control through media is the American Life. It's easy not to see the truth when there's something more entertaining on another channel.

Open hands, open heart, open mind.

All Aboard the Mothership

Ok so I'm finally doing it....writing a BLOG. I know I have a million things to say but suddenly my mind is blank and I'm starring at this keyboard wondering what all of these buttons do. I haven't actually read anyone's BLOG out of the fear of being cliche' and mundane, however something tells me I'm about to do what almost everyone does on their first posting.

Hi, my name is....I live in sunny California....I'm a thirty year old, stay at home mom....blah blah blah. I know these things about myself as it is. Who am I writing this for anyway and is anyone really going to read it?

The truth of the matter is I do have a lot to say. I say it all the time to myself, infact I have very intelligent, stimulating conversations with myself everyday. So maybe now I can share some of those thoughts, after all I would really like to save the world. I would love to wake the general population up to the fact that the #$%@! has finally hit the fan. However I wont climb onto my soap box just yet, least I scare anyone away. Aside from being a Progressive thinker, I am a writer who never writes, an actress who is basically disgusted by the main stream media and the so called entertainment industry, a wife , and a mother. Not to mention house cleaner, chef, chauffeur, teacher, student and all the little things that we stay at home mom's never get recognized for.

"Stay at home mom"...is that a terrible title or what?! Domestic Engineer, gimme a break. My favorite is Domestic Diva. There really is no title good enough to describe our job, and oh yes it is a job, a career rather. For not only are we caring for ourselves as well as another adult (well some husbands are adults), we also have the tiny task of molding and guiding a precious new life. What career even compares to this? Yet the title of STAY-AT-HOME-MOM always brings to mind a woman lounging on the couch eating bon bons and watching soap operas, with fluffy pink slippers on her feet. If and when I get a moment to sit on the couch and watch anything, I'm always distracted by the thoughts of all the other things I should be doing and I sure ain't wearing pink slippers.

My husband is currently out of the country visiting his family. So for the first time in my life I am a single mom. Things are going surprisingly well, except for the fact that my four year old is screaming for me right now.....One hour later.....As I was saying, things are going well for me but then again I'm not working outside of the home as most single mom's have to. I bow down to those women who can hold a fulltime job, sometimes more than one and raise children all alone. It is unfortunate that our society has conditioned so many men to separate themselves from the responsibility of raising children. What will these generations of the fatherless children be like? Will they seek out what they did not have and forge bonds with their children, the stuff that dreams are made of. Or will the disease continue, will it fester and grow producing men and women who have no desire to be a part of their children's lives. I know many single mothers, all of them amazing in the simple fact that they do what needs to be done, as best as they can. This small taste of reality as a parent doing the enormous task of raising a human being alone, has belittled most of my gripes with being a mother. It's not easy for anyone by any means, but I can hardly complain because I am blessed by an incrediable husband who is also an incrediable father. I know I will forget my single mom experience in time, much like we forget the pains of child birth. I will go back to bitching about being stuck in the house all of the time, doing the same tasks over and over again, hamster on a wheel. However in this moment I am in awe of those parents who take on both rolls, and who succeed in raising compassionate, intelligent, and successful human beings.

The girls are asleep and this is my time. Time that belongs all to me. I can do anything I want within the confides of this home. I could watch a movie, read a book, call a friend. However I wont do any of those things because as I sit here in a t-shirt soaked from giving my daughter a bath, faced with a kitchen piled high with dirty dishes, clothes in the washer, and a gazillion other things I should be doing; the only mommy time I want is in bed with my dreams. To wake before the sun rises and start the cycle again. But hey I ain't complain'
